Re: Kid's and teens can't eat plates of food?

@graceymanors  I've seen this occasionally, but only with one kid at a time, and I'm not sure there's a pattern to what types of food are affected.  I've always addressed it by dragging the plate to the fridge and replacing it on the counter or in a sim's inventory.  Does it matter who cooks the meal, or where it's been placed?  Or perhaps whether it's cooked in the oven rather than only on the stovetop?  I've also seen errors when a sim takes a serving plate out of the oven, especially (but not exclusively) when the game was saved while the sim was already cooking.

If you've tried a clean folder, that would take care of the cache files, as well as any mod-related issues (as long as your clean folder didn't initially have mods in it).

As a side note, I'm surprised that you have SP and Overwatch, but not ErrorTrap or MasterController.  In your position, I'd go around doing manual resets of the fridge and counters, the entire lot, and then maybe a kid or two to see if it helped.  But if you don't want to do that, I'd evict the family in Edit Town, save the house to the bin, bulldoze the lot, replace the house, and then move the family back in.  As long as you did it all in one Edit Town session, your sims wouldn't lose their jobs or relationships, just their promised dreams and opportunities.

I do have master controller and error trap. But I'm not sure how to use error trap. And I never see a notification from it.
As for master controller, I never really touch it.What's error trap suppose to do? I never see it do anything.

No, it don't matter who cooks it, or who places it down.Yup the mod folder was completely removed, I had backed up my SIms 3 folder and deleted the old one, let the game regenerate it and tried in a vanilla sunset valley.

@graceymanors  ErrorTrap waits in the background until it's needed.  It will occasionally send a notification when it's found and corrected an error, but there's no reason for you to control it manually.  MasterController has options to reset an object or an entire lot—click on the ground to bring up the menu.

When you tried the clean folder test, did you use your existing family or start a new save?  Your current household may have some issue that hasn't been fixed yet, and a clean folder might not have removed it.  That's where MC resets can help, as well as perhaps bulldozing the lot and replacing it.

If the problem exists even in a brand new world in a clean folder, then maybe your only options are to repair the game in Origin or uninstall and reinstall completely.  Since reinstalling is so much work, I'd still test out a few stove/counter combinations in a new save first, just to make sure you can't get rid of the problem.  It also might be helpful to ask again over at the forums.  I saw your original thread and the lack of solutions it generated, but perhaps someone will have more to offer this time around.

So I went in, reset each counter, table, chair, fridge and each household member with master controller.Didn't work.

Reset the entire lot with MC - didn't work.

Bulldozed the lot and replaced the house - didn't work.

Moved into a new house- didn't work.

@graceymanors  You could still try repairing the game in Origin.  But honestly, other than completely uninstalling and reinstalling the program files, I don't know what else to tell you.  I'm sorry I can't offer anything else.

Thanks! That's what I'm trying now, trying the repair first, cause uninstalling is a lot of work lol.
Thank you for all the suggestions =)

@graceymanors  I'm sorry to hear that.  If you'd like to have an expert look over your dxdiag, you can attach it here using the paper clip icon, and then tag roberta591  and ask for help.
