Re: Re: My Page on Sims3.com not working

@MAWriterGirl  I've split your post into its own thread since a 10-year-old thread is likely to get closed before you can get any help.  When you've tested all these devices, have they been using the same network, i.e. your home connection?  That might be the issue.  I'd suggest setting your phone to use wifi, not your home network.  Try on the phone first, then set it as a hotspot and connect to it with one of your computers.

Additionally, if you use a VPN, try turning it off.

I did test My Page just now, my own, and it loaded fine for me in Firefox.  So the site overall is working.

@puzzlezaddictThank you so much for replying!  Yes, both of my computers and also my phone use my home internet, and I just tested for the problem on the second computer and it's happening there too.  My phone has a weird plan whose wi-fi is iffy, but I'll see if I can reconfigure the settings and get it to use a different internet source.  I'm not sure what a VPN is, unfortunately -- I hate to sound like a nuisance, but could you explain, please?  Many thanks for your help!

... So I reset my phone to its wi-fi plan, managed to get logged in ... and still have the problem.  Maybe it's just my page?  I can't see anyone else's page either.  I can access my studio, but only if I go to the Exchange and find one of my uploads, then click on the tabs to get there.  Anything else on my page is inaccessible, and this goes for all my friends' pages or anyone else on the site.  When I try to reload my page, it shows for a fraction of a second, then I get the blank loading screen again.

Thanks once again for your help!

@MAWriterGirl  I just loaded what I believe is your profile (same name, same capitalization) and had no problem loading your page or your studio, which isn't surprising.  So the question is whether this is a problem with your devices—less likely since you've tried a few, but still possible—or your account.  If you have the chance, please try accessing your account on a different computer, for example one at work/school or a friend's house, and let me know whether it works.

There are EA people who sometimes post on this site, but this is a holiday weekend in the U.S., so it would take some time to get a response.

VPN stands for virtual private network, the idea being that a service hides your internet activity from the usual methods of monitoring.  VPNs can also disguise your location, and some of them don't work well with EA websites.  If you don't know what a VPN is, you probably don't have one unless someone else also uses your computers and phone.  At any rate, testing on a different device you don't own should clarify the problem.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks for the response -- I'll try accessing my account at the library, as that's the only other place I have access to where I could use a different device. That probably won't be till at least Friday though, so I'll post again after that. I'm the only one who uses my computers and phone, and checking my phone showed that I don't have any VPNs, so that wouldn't be the culprit. Thanks again, will post when I've tested my account at the library.

@puzzlezaddictI finally got to the library and signed into my account, and it works here.  I still can't access it from home though.  At this point my thinking is that it's either my home internet or my devices, but it's hard to say which, as I tried signing into the account on my phone while I was at work and I couldn't get into it there either.

So I'm down to either getting into my account whenever I go to the library, or trying to figure out how to fix the problem so I can access it at home.  Would this require uninstalling and reinstalling my entire game?  Thanks for your help and sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

@MAWriterGirl  It doesn't sound like this problem has anything to do with your install of Sims 3.  At the very least, that wouldn't affect trying to access the site on your phone.

If you haven't already, try powercycling your router.  That means turning it off and waiting five minutes or so before turning it back on.  And I'm not sure exactly what settings you used on your phone, but you'd actually want to try disabling its wifi and using data only.  Simply turning off wifi should force it to use data.

With your phone, you can also try using public wifi anywhere you find it, for example Starbucks or a doctor's office.  If the only problem is accessing "My Page," you can work around it by using that part of the site when you're in a location with its own wifi network.  It's not ideal, but it's easier than your remaining options, which are basically to switch out your home equipment or internet service providers or to try to get the ISP to fix the problem on its end.  That's even assuming this is an ISP issue, which is difficult to prove even in the best cases.

@puzzlezaddict  Before I had a chance to try powercycing my router, I discovered I can access my page again.  Apparently the problem solved itself, at least for now.  It was baffling all the way along, and I guess there's no way to find out what was responsible for my lack of access, but at least I'm back in operation again.  I haven't tried it on my phone yet but I'll do some experimenting as I get the opportunity.

I very much appreciate your time and assistance with this weird problem ... have a great holiday season!

@MAWriterGirl  A solution with no explanation is almost always better than an explanation with no solution; I'm just glad it worked out.  Please do let me know if the problem returns.  And best holiday wishes to you too.
