dcdbt.ebc file

I've been playing my save for awhile, recently a file is showing up in Dccache called "dcdbt.ebc".  If I delete it the game will play for awhile until it shows up again.  I've deleted it four times.  It is now coming back a lot sooner than before.  I used to be able to get at least 4-5 game saves before it would come back.  Now it's coming back on the very first save, rendering my game almost unplayable.  I've looked for info. on this file and find very little about it.  What is this file, what does it do and how do I fix this?

  • If I remember correctly, the ebc file is content downloaded from the Sims 3 store, so you can leave it there. The store content will create it to work properly.

Yes, i'm aware that this is a file with store content.  But, why has it never shown up until recently, why is it freezing my game?  If I remove it I can play until it shows up again.  Now it's  coming back all the time and within 15 minutes of game play.  That's all I can play my game anymore because of this file freezing the game.  I need to know what specific purpose this file has and how I fix any corrupt content that might be in it which is causing the game to freeze.  Considering it's the last ".ebc" flle in the list and most recent, it only has "96 bytes" of content in it.  Which is really small compared to the other prior .ebc files in DCCache.  The others have not caused a problem.  Only this last file "dbdbt.ebc".  I've deleted this file five times now and it has yet to be corrected by Store Content.  So, that leads me to believe it has corrupt Store Content.   I've tried using Custard but, Custard will only scan the first .ebc file in the list under "DCCache".   Thanks for your input.

  • Have you downloaded new content from Store when this started to pop up? I've understood that some of the content may cause some problems and corrupt the ccmerged file in your DCBackup folder and because it's also linked to store content, it might has something to do with this.

You might want to try fix / download clean ccmerged file, instructions: https://nonasims.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/dcbackup-ccmerged-package-and-your-premium-content-items/ and see if that will fix the problem. Easy way is to download the ccmerged file from the link (last Q-part in the main article) and replace the old one with it in your DCBackup folder.

I've had a lot of problems in past with store content but this clean ccmerged file solved them all.

I tried the Nona's ccmerged, game froze immediately.  So it's not that.  I remembered that I added 2 lots I built from an old game along with 4 sims.  I pulled up a save from before this and it played beautifully for 45 min.  When I quit I didn't find the "dcdbt.ebc" file in the DCCache for that save.  I'm thinking something is corrupt in the lots or sims I added.  If I can get back into the game long enough i'm going to eliminate those additions and try and save.  If successful I'll try playing, if it works there's my problem.  I don't know of any other way to see what is in that file.  I may have to reinstall all my store content.  I seriously hope NOT!  Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

  • Terlynsky  Are you signing into the launcher or at the Main Menu?  If so, try not doing that.  Try deleting the FeaturedItems folder as well, in the same Sims 3 folder.

If that doesn't help, remove or rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts to force the game to generate a new one, and try playing a new save there.  The idea is to see how the game runs with no added content; I'm not saying you need to delete your saves or other installed data.
