Sims 3 won't launch

I played the game a couple of years ago and haven't played since. Now it won't launch. I click on play in the EA app, it opens the launcher, when i click play... nothing. I tried running the exe file as administrator, I tried the LazyDuchess patch, tried the processor affinity thing, and nothing helps. Also have reinstalled the game and restarted my pc.

  • tiffannnyy  One common reason the Sims 3 launcher doesn't even open is an issue with .NET Framework 3.5, which the game and launcher use.  I explained how to uninstall and reinstall it in another recent post:

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Hi thank you for your reply! I tried reinstalling the .NET Framework, but that didn't work. This is the dxdiag file

  • tiffannnyy  Your dxdiag is full of crashes of the graphics driver, which could explain the Sims 3 issue (or be unrelated).  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

If that doesn't help, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to open Sims 3, specifically after reinstalling the graphics driver.  (I don't need to see errors from before that.)  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
