I've merged a bunch of posts into this thread.  EA is looking into this issue but hasn't stated when a fix will be available.  Hopefully that's coming soon.  This thread will be updated with any new info, so please keep an eye on it or subscribe: open the Topic Options menu above the first post on page one and click Subscribe.

In the interim, there's unfortunately nothing you can do on your end, that is unless you're one of the lucky few who can get the game to install through the other launcher (Origin or the EA App).  You can have both installed on your computer at the same time; you just can't run both launchers at the same time.  If you get an error when trying to launch Origin, restart your computer, or open the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundService.exe.

Damn, i just throwed my last money on my pc to play that.

EA really shouldn't switch to a launcher where this problem apparently exists since a long time (saw the threads before)

WHY EA, I am a computer science student and would have been kicked out of my studys if i would provide an App without the MUST features.

And the worst thing is that I downloaded the EA app and it uninstalled Origin and now I can’t install Origin back because origin.com website redirects me to EA website 😭 EA app is *, the download button doesn’t work and even the “redeem code” doesn’t work. Origin worked just fine. But when I redeemed code to my sims 3 expansion it said that I can download it only from EA app so that was the reason whole I switched (involuntarily) to EA 😭 Why can’t I switch to Origin back? 

I know right?

I will ask my lawyer if this is legit, to buy something and they not fullfilling the promises they made.

That you can write a ticket but its said to never get an answer.

It is a farce because I have seen this problem occuring with the EA laucher even years before, therefore people switched to origin, 

It's nothing that was not spoken about before :S

If you cut the clients from the working launcher, you first need to make sure the ONLY launcher is functioning.

At this point refunds are in order.

Edit: Sadly this was no fix for me, i wanted to type in the product key of the expansions, bur they said the keys were already used -_-

I know there's some talk about a working launcher and a non-working one, but in my case, the error persists on both launchers, and I've tried full installs with both.

Not saying that it might not be a valid solution for some, just that this issue persists at least in some cases between download clients.

EA is wasting our time, not you my friend.

However, the thread is 1 month old, I have no hopes in the issue being resolved soon. :/ 

It's a pitty, hopefully Paralives comes out soon so i can say goodbye to EA

@Mima0809You can.. through techspot.com it’s safe. I had to do the same but my library is still gone so I gave up on Origin. I’ve reinstalled, cleared cache so many times nothing works for EA app. The ball is in EAs park

I just re-downloaded Origin and it only has the sims 3 base game... it does not even allow me to install my expansion packs.

I have started to reinstall everything again on the EA app and it seems that so far one of the expansions (university life) which was previously coming up with the error is installing again
