This worked for me too, but of course it cancelled all the wishes I had for my Sim.

I don't know if anyone is still having this problem but I believe I have a fix!!!! Just go to the 3 dots in the left-hand corner, click EDIT TOWN, then click the hand icon to MOVE LOT. You can now rotate the lot IF you want to, but for me all I did was then click "accept" on that screen without moving it at all. Then the town/map icons appeared again! 🙂 After all this time, hopefully people haven't stopped playing and this fix will help!
