I am on a mac. The game meets all the requirments.
I can't find out my game version because I can't open my launcher. Everytime I try to it quits unexpectedly.
I have never used mods and I don't even know what Helper Mankey is.

Okey. Macs, not really know much about them 🙂
Check if you find a file called skuversion.txt and post what the first line says. Can't tell you where you would find it but it should be in the folder where the game itself is installed.
Try renaming your documents folder (you won't loose anything if you just rename) and let the game create a new one to see if this gets anywhere near working condition (aka does the launcher start again)

I couldn't find that skuversion.txt file but in the readme for the Sims 3 it said:
Readme for The Sims (tm) 3
(c)2009 Electronic Arts Inc. All Rights Reserved.
June 2, 2009
Version 1.0
(That's because I reinstalled...)And I'm not really sure what to do for that other part. I renamed my Sims 3 folder. The game still doesn't start.

Many errors can be pinpointed to corrupt user data (cc, savegames) so it's always good to check if the user data or the program data is the issue. But with renaming the folder in documents you let the game create a fresh one and if it still doesn't run, I daresay it's something else.
You can find the manual patch here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching/Patch_Download_OSX but I don't know if it helps you.
I know that Macs had many issues the past few days and I'm probably the wrong person to help.
Have you tried posting in the Mac forum in the Sims 3 forum ? There's a few fellow mac players that might be able to help you or you can wait if someone else here has any idea.
