Sims 3 not aging up

I realized that my sims have stopped aging up even though I haven't disabled aging.

I don't have any mods or cc and I play on my macbook. Recently, I had a problem where the connecting screen loads forever but that problem is fixed by deleting some files in Keychain Access. Could this be related to my problem with my sims aging up?

If anyone has a solution please let me know!

Thank you

  • catcat543249  Are the sims not aging, or are they supposed to have a birthday and don't?  Neither would be affected by the connecting issue, but these are two very different issues with different causes and fixes, so please let me know.

puzzlezaddict Thanks for the reply. They are not aging no matter how long I play, and their "days until aging up" stays the same number.

At any rate, would you be willing to use mods, at least temporarily, to fix this?  The alternate fix is removing Generations and playing until the sims start aging again, then saving.  However, in addition to removing all the GEN-related content from your save, it could corrupt the save in certain circumstances.  So it's safer to use a few mods to address this.  They're removable if you decide you don't like them, but three of the four are extremely helpful in general and don't change the game other than fixing problems.  The fourth is the replacement aging manager and is a big mod, but like I said, you could remove it, or heavily curtail its influence, once it's fixed the problem.

puzzlezaddict Yes, I do own Generations and at this point I'm not willing to use any mods to fix this issue. I understand the risk of corrupting the save file and I'm okay with that. Also, sorry if I'm being picky I really appreciate your help. It seems like I'm trying to solve this the hard way.

  • catcat543249  The safer thing you can try is evicting your sims and placing them back in their house.  They'd keep their jobs and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities.  This resets a lot of issues, although not necessarily this one.

When you try it, put them back in their house, use "save as" to rename the save (to keep the original intact in case you want it later), quit to desktop, and reload.  It might take a sim-day or two for the sims to start aging again.  After you quit to desktop, and also before you try this, delete the five cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3:

    CASPartCache.package
    compositorCache.package
    scriptCache.package
    simCompositorCache.package
    socialCache.package

If this doesn't help, and you don't want to start a new save, the only other non-mod-related way I know of to fix this is to disable Generations, wait until the sims start aging again, and only then reenable the EP.  As I mentioned, this could potentially corrupt your save, so keep a backup handy.

As for how to disable Generations, since you have a Mac, you can simply drag the EP04 folder out of the Sims 3 Packs folder, which will be wherever you installed the game, Applications > EA Games by default.  The EP won't load with its folder moved.  To use Generations again, put the folder back.

puzzlezaddict Thank you for the solution. Evicting the household didn't work, so I've decided to start a new save. Thank you so much for helping me I really appreciate it. :-)
