Re: Stuck in France edit mode and sim can’t be played
@linaermegasej In your saves folder, you should have one game-generated backup, which will have a .backup extension. (So if your save is SunsetValley.sims3, the backup will be SunsetValley.sims3.backup.) Delete the .backup and rename the save (maybe SunsetValley1.sims3), and it will be available to load at the Main Menu. Now would be a good time to make a copy or two of that backup, in case something else goes wrong.
The travel transitions in TS3 are delicate and can break easily, which is what happened here. Without mods, the best thing to do is to lower the stress on the game engine as much as possible before traveling; you can reverse the changes after your sims arrive safely.
- Don't login at either the launcher or Main Menu; in fact, it's best to keep your computer entirely offline
 - Turn off the hidden object loading screens
 - Turn down your graphics options to the minimum
 - Empty out your sims' inventories as much as possible—a few items are fine, a few dozen might not be
 - When you're about to travel, save, quit (without saving), and then reload, and travel before doing anything else

This can be reversed after you're sure your game is working, although except for the low graphics, they're all good ideas in general to lower the stress on the game engine.
It's also good practice to delete the five cache files in your TS3 game folder, whether you're having issues or not. Many of us delete them after every play session, and you certainly should do so before (and after) traveling. For reference, they are:
- CASPartCache.package
 - compositorCache.package
 - scriptCache.package
 - simCompositorCache.package
 - socialCache.package

Additionally, from now on, you should use "save as" instead of "save" and rename your game slightly each time so that you'll have several backups to which to revert if something else goes wrong with your game. I keep 4-6 backups at a time and delete the older ones periodically.
If you're still having trouble traveling, please list your computer's specs here, or run a dxdiag and attach it using the "browse" button. Please also list the other packs you have installed and in which world you're playing before the vacation.
