@otepeatsotap  Nope, those jobs are still rabbitholes, and you can still only tell your sims how to work (work hard, hang with coworkers, etc.).  Ambitions introduced separate active careers where your sim runs around town performing tasks; it mostly didn't change how the existing careers play out.  (The only exception I can think of is how doctors often get a chance to host a vaccination clinic or give a seminar on a community lot during work hours.)

The Ambitions active careers are firefighter, hosted through the fire station, which you can place in Edit Town if your world doesn't already have one; private investigator, where tasks are assigned through the police station; ghost hunter, where your sim removes spirits from other sims' homes; stylist, hosted from the salon; and architectural designer, where you get to redesign your neighbors' houses.  A few other packs introduced different kinds of active careers, for example the Showtime performers or the Island Paradise lifeguard.  And of course Ambitions brings the ability to be self-employed and track earnings, as well as the Consignment Store.
