Re: The sims 3 freezes completely when I try to unpause the game
@kdaatkfeqrd9 Thanks for providing the dxdiag. The first thing I notice is that your C drive has only 11 GB free. That's not a lot but enough to avoid performance issues under normal circumstances. However, Sims 3 creates fairly large temporary files by game standards, so that 11 GB could shrink noticeably while you're playing, and much more once you've played your save for longer. So please try to clear another 10 GB or so if you can.
One source of problems is the FeaturedItems folder inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. The game dumps over a hundred thumbnails into this folder during each play session, for no good reason, so it can get quite large. You can delete the folder each time you close the game, or you can use a more permanent intervention. Let me know if you'd like help with this. For now though, just delete the folder as you're troubleshooting.
For the issue itself, is OneDrive running on this computer? If so, and whether you actually use it or not, please try pausing syncing while you play. Right-click the OneDrive (cloud) icon in the lower-right corner of the screen to see the option.
Please also delete everything inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > CurrentGame. This folder should always be empty unless you're playing and currently have a save loaded, but the contents don't get deleted if the game crashes or you have to close it manually.
By the way, the sims you've created should be available in the in-game bin, which you can access in the initial game setup screen by choosing "Move in household." So you don't need to keep making new sims in CAS. But please let me know if your previously-created households are not there, as that would indicate another issue.
