Re: The Sims 3: Problem with a random career outfits

@cavilesn  This kind of thing suggests that the sim's outfit assignment is broken.  This isn't uncommon for career outfits.  The outfit could have some bad cc, but usually the outfit itself is fine and it's only the assignment that's broken.  When this happens, you'll need to manually create, or recreate, the outfit you want for the sim, because the game will just replace it with something else, as you've seen.

If you want the "right" clothing for a sim's career and level, you can check Carl's Sims 3 Guide—the site has screenshots of many of the uniforms on the various pages for the corresponding careers.

Thank puzzleadict for this information! This is so useful to me for I can understand the problem with my software, but I can't changed manually create or recreate because the software is unlock and the character only can wear to work is the career outfits appointed for the software and the manually create or recreate remains as a second option and that is not good to me because I want to make a town with my characters and this option it is not viable.

I would like to know if someone have a file correct with the outfits and get me to replace the broken mine, please? Or have another answer to my problem, because the system is unlock to me ☹️

@cavilesn  In the normal game, you can't edit a sim's career outfit, but you can add a second outfit by using the dresser to Plan Outfit.  And you can use a cheat to get access to all outfits as well.  Bring up the cheats console (crtl-shift-C) and enter "unlockoutfits on" without quotes.  Then Plan Outfit, and you'll see all locked articles of clothing available.  (Be sure to activate the cheat before you enter Plan Outfit.)

If you want to edit a sim's primary career outfit, you need a mod.  NRaas MasterController works nicely.  Once you install it, click on any sim (it works on both active and inactive sims) and select NRaas > MasterController > Stylist, then select the Career category.  Or, if you don't see the sim whose outfit you want to edit, click on City Hall and select NRaas > MasterController > Sim > Stylist.  Then use one or more of the filters to narrow down the list, or click X to get a list of all sims in the entire town.  Either way, you'll still need the unlockoutfits cheat to use the locked outfits, but everything else will be available.

@cavilesn  A mod is a modification to the game, a file with extra instructions that the game loads along with its program files.  Mods can add extra functions, or unblock functions (like allowing you to edit an outfit that normally can't be changed), or prevent things you don't want happening; there are almost endless possibilities.  Some mods are poorly made and shouldn't be used, but NRaas mods are all high quality and have been tested by tens if not hundreds of thousands of player over the years.  I've used MasterController (and several others) for almost a decade with no ill effects.

The way to install mods is the same on a Mac as it is on a Windows PC.  Here are useful instructions:

    http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

I can't directly link any specific mod on this site, but if you google NRaas MasterController, you'll find it easily enough.  I believe you only need the base mod to change a career outfit, but I also have the Cheats add-on installed.

If you'd like help setting up mods, the main NRaas discussion forum (called Chatterbox) is a great place to ask.  But the instructions I linked above should get you started.
