I don't think that doing all of those things before installing the sims 3 Island Paradise should be necessary in order to for Sims 3 to work correctly. I feel like simply installing the game should work just fine, and do not believe that the program should release the game until they have fixed the problems that they know are going to be an issue. I am having the same problem, and am still confused on what to do.

I fought this war when Universitycame out, but eventually fixed it all. Although I do not remember all that it took because it was a few months ago and it took weeks to figure out and correct each issue. Issues are worse with Island Paradise. IE slow launcher load. Start up, see log for error, issues. Blank welcome page when launcher loads, script running errors, etc. Every time a new game comes available my S3 downloads gets trashed some how.
