Re~Registering with the same serial code, Invalid

Hi there,

I was having problems playing the sims 3 pets a while back, so I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled it a few days ago. I'm having a problem with registering the seriel code for the sims 3 pets. The thing is, if it's been installed before with the same code, shouldn't it already be registered? I tried looking in the regedit  section and found both codes for both base game and sims 3 pets, they are the only two I have. None of those codes worked. I typed the codes in several times just to make sure it wasn't a typer error, but It keeps saying:  

The serial code you entered is invalid. Please enter a valid serial code and re-submit.

I've double checked its the correct code and nothing seems to be working. How can I check that my game hasn't already been registered and how can I fix this?
 
 
Also, does it affect my game in anyway? I have the pc disc version of both games. Both bought from Amazon, brand new. Nothing wrong with discs either, good condition. 
 
P,S, I have been advised to let you know I have learning difficulties, so I am not very sure if I explained myself correctly.

    Hi Sarah,

    it should be registered if you activated your games when you first bought them.

    Did you have no troubles installing the base game ? Does your Sims 3 Pets show up on the Origin client under myGames ? Where do you get that invalid code message ? Is it a window with Sims on it or an Origin message ?
