steam does not work orign or the disk version of the games the only thing that can be done is to get your code from steam then redeem it in your origin account
if you dont have origin you will need to download it and use the same login information as you do for your the sims 3 account same email and password unfortunatily afaik you will need to uninstall it from steam

I tried redeeming it through my origin account, but it directed me to the actual Sims website for registration.
Edit: Exact reply I get from Origin after uninstalling it form Steam: We're sorry, this code cannot be redeemed here. Please redeem your code at the following site: https://www.thesims3.com/webLogin.html?redirectTo=http://www.thesims3.com/registeragame.html&forceLoginMessage=login.force

if your using two different emails and passwords contact CS they can assist with mergeing the accounts AND thay can assist with issues with codes
if you have to contact CS They can be found here: https://help.ea.com/contact-us
Choose a category, a game and a platform for the contact options to show up.
If live chat is gray, change your country to US and make sure you're on US Business hours. It might also gray because they're very busy. Try later.
See this post if you have trouble with the site: http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2012/10/how-to-contact-ea.html- Anonymous12 years ago
Okay this worked out perfectly! Got everything done and was able to install the game successfully. However, I have one last additional problem. My game installed onto the D drive which is where I keep all my games. D Drive is my preferred location and I've even set it for that because my C drive has no space. My problem is that the Sims 3 is trying to update a 1.6gb patch onto my C drive instead of doing the patch on my D Drive. How do I make it so that the patch is installed onto my D drive instead?
