@puzzlezaddict I deleted the cache files and that made no difference so then I deleted the highest numbered files ending in .dbc and installed one item. This still didn't show up in game and once I closed my game and reopened my launcher it had uninstalled again.
@clary0820 Okay, the next step is rebuilding your installed custom content. Please move your entire Sims 3 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. Open the launcher to create a new folder, then download and install one cc item. Test in-game to see whether it works, and if it does, you can install all the other cc that you've been trying to add without success. When you're done, test again to make sure it stays installed.
If this works, please let me know how much already installed cc you have that you'd like to keep, i.e. items that haven't been disappearing. There are a couple different ways to approach combining the contents of your old and new Sims 3 folders, and which is most convenient depends on how much content you have.
