Sims 3 does not launch on last-generation computer

Hi guys.

I have been a player of this game for the last 13 years. Recently I purchased a Gigabyte A16 laptop with Windows 11, with an Intel Core i7 processor (13 generation), a Geforce RTX Nvidia 5060 GPU, and 1 TB of SSD capacity. When I finished installing the game (I have it via Steam), the game never launched. I tried not using the launcher but the direct game entry option. I also tried deleting the OneDrive on my laptop. I also tried the Alder Lake patch option, and additionally, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times (it is also a brand new game with no saves to download), but overall NOTHING worked. I am a bit desperate about this since I am so attached to the game. Does someone have any experience at all about how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

  • arianerek  When you applied the Alder Lake patch, did you specifically apply it to TS3W.exe, with the W?  That's the correct executable for a Steam install.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also post a screenshot of any error message you're seeing.
