sims 3 late night update doesn't work

i download the sims 3 starter pack and the sims 3 works fine and high end loft works but the late night expasion pack downloads and installs fine but when i go to play it, it ask to update so i update and then it says cant update patch please reinstall an i did that an it doesnt work
