Sims 3 launchpad will not open in Macbook Pro!

I have had the Sims 3 on my Macbook Pro for about the past year.  I don't play that often, but I have played before and my game has worked pretty well in the past.  Today, I've tried putting in the disk for the expansion pack several times (the disk I always use) andopening the Sims 3 icon on my computer.  After I click on the icon, though, nothing happens.

I have tried restarting my computer, taking the disk out and putting it back in, and opening the Sims 3 in safe mode on my computer but nothing is working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I just really want to play the sims and anything you guys know would be really helpful.

    Hi

It could be that something has changed since the last time you played. I would back up your system, then cleanly uninstall TS3, reinstall the base game and patch it up to date. After that, test and make sure you can get it to work before adding expansions back in.

    Clean uninstall/reinstall instructions

When you uninstall TS3 games on your Mac using the uninstaller, the game leaves behind stray files and isn't completely removed from your computer. These files may conflict with future installations. It is best to completely remove them. BluebellFlora's website provides a guide on how to do this:

After cleanly uninstalling, install the base game and patch it up to date. If you cannot update via the Launcher, download and apply the latest cumulative manual patch (called the superpatch) for Mac.

Check that your game works properly. Then install any EPs and SPs that you own, in order of release date.

    Hi

How many of the TS3 games do you have installed - just one expansion or more?

When you click the icon to start the game, do you see any sign at all that it is trying to open? For example if you put the base game icon in your dock, a little light should appear under it or it should start bouncing, or something that indicates that the program is selected. Or, open Activity Monitor and see if The Sims 3 appears in the list.

Okay, I openend the Activity Monitor and the Sims 3 wasn't on the list.  I'm not doing anything differently than other times I've tried to open it so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you! I did what you said and after deleting everything and reinstalling (I had to do it twice because the first time it wouldn't verify the download) it worked! Now I can finally play TS3 again. Thank you! 🙂

That's great news, I'm glad you've got it working again. Reinstalling takes time but it is worth the effort when the game starts running again. Have fun!
