Re: [Current Issue] Sims 3 "serious error" when loading save

I have tried repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I still get the same error when I try and start a game "A serious error has occurred while loading "Bridgeport.world". It is strongly recommended that you restart the application."

What can I do to get this working again?

I too am having a hard time playing Sims 3. I have repaired it and I still can't play the game. It says there was a problem during start up and to check the log for details.

I don’t have one drive installed on my computer or an antivirus program

  • csummers2013  Are you getting the serious error, or something else?  If something else, what exactly happens when you try to play?  And what antivirus do you use?

I'm getting the serious error occurred while loading Sunset Valley.world.  My game is loaded directly to my pc (I don't use one drive) and I don't have anti-virus software loaded (trial version ended).  I put the Sims 3 on my brand new laptop and it runs just fine no issues.  My gaming pc is also brand new and my other Sims games (Sims 1&2 Legacy and Sims 4) run just fine.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, cleaned the cache with the EA app and I've even repaired the game.  I livestream and was hoping to jump on the band wagon with streaming the Sims games but with 3 not working properly and since EA doesn't want to fix the problem I guess it's not happening.  I've un-installed 3 I've tried every suggestion and it didnt work and yes my pc meets the requirements to run it thats the first thing I checked.

  • csummers2013  Did you try playing in a new admin Windows account?  This would distinguish between issues with your main account and more global problems.  The account needs to be local, as in, not linked to your Microsoft account or any email address.

I think it's more than that because I have zero issues with windows and this game on my laptop and it's the same account.  When I log in with my EA account using my email address with Gmail, I have zero issues with the game.  Nothing is in my OneDrive and everything is local with my pc.  My pc is brand new and does meet the requirements.  If it works on my laptop then with the same microsoft account and same gmail address login for my EA account it should work here.

  • csummers2013  I was asking if you had tested in a new account, for comparison's sake.  Regardless of your setup, this is a useful test: it shows whether the problem is limited to your main account or is global.  If it's the main account, other non-OneDrive-related causes include a permissions issue (permissions were broken somehow), some problem with custom settings, and possibly something about your username.  An antivirus could also block the game's ability to write to Documents, allowing it in the new account one time and then locking it down afterwards.

Point is, please test and let me know what happens.

Stopping one drive from syncing my documents and desktop seemed to work! Thanks!
