13 years agoSims 3 on Macbook Air
Hello, I bought the sims 3 when it first came out for my desk top. I know have a Macbook Air with no cd drive. Is there a way for me to get it on my new computer without having to pay for it again? ...
I made this transition about a year ago. Either using the external USB SuperDrive ($79 from Apple) or the "Remote Disc" feature to connect to another working computer's DVD drive, install your earliest games in order. The last game (the one you intend to play from) will need to be a digital download, so either order one of the newest EPs or re-order your last one as a digital copy. This will effectively turn your base game & all your EPs into digital copies and you will be able to play without the CD drive.
Fortunately, the release of Origin for Mac should make gaming on an Air much easier from now on. 🙂
Origin is still in Beta for PC so look out for it to be put onto Mac and Linux further on it's line of work. Unfortunately you must have the game on Origin first but you can use any serials from hard copies to turn them into downloadables. Embrace the cloud!
So I think yall are both late to the Origin "party"...(not really a party) but Origin is on Mac. You can download it without having bought any games from there and input your registration codes. After you input your code, you can download a digital copy regardless of where you bought it.
