Do you play any other graphical games on that laptop? The GT 230M is an entry level gaming chip and may not handle more demanding packs like PETS. How old is the laptop? The fan could be clogged causing the computer to overheat (common problem). The HP DV6 has many versions so you need to post the whole model number. As your laptop is at least 2.5 years old I'm suspecting your having battery problems or you have replaced the battery. The GT 230M is a DX10.1 chip. There is no DX10 as Windows Vista upgraded DX10 to DX11. The GT 230M is out of date as Nvidia now makes 7XX series chips. I believe that laptop switches between the Nvidia dedicated graphics chip and the integrate Intel chip by HybridPower (old). If you play with the battery (not recommended for a laptop playing TS3), the laptop may be switching graphics chips to conserve power and this may be giving you the error. This laptop needs to be looked at on a work bench.

Its about 3.5 years and yes the battery does not work on its own so its always connected AC. Therefore I always play the game on AC power. Yes, the computer constantly overheats and I even tried cleaning the vents. And when I do the windows hardware troubleshoot it comes up with the error: "windows might not be able to identify hardware" - So yeah I think I agree with you, the laptop needs to be looked at.
Less demanding games still work on this laptop such as chocolatier (wild tangent games)
Yeah, sounds pretty much like a hardware issue.
