Re: Sims 3 won't open: Alder Lake (Intel 12th-gen) CPU

I use the Sims 3 via Steam and am now having issues lanching it - I think it occurred after a recent Microsoft update. It will load the launcher but not any further. The cursor spins for a few moments like it is thinking but then nothing happens.

When connected to the internet/OneDrive the launcher remains running in the tray and Steam says the game is running. However, I tried launching not connected to the internet but that results in the launcher to stop running after pressing play.

I have turned off OneDrive and moved the Sims 3 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to the desktop and launching it, and it gets as far as creating a new folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.

Edit: I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall the Sims 3 via Steam and still having the same issues. I have also tried to run directly from "TS3.exe" and "TS3W.exe" both normally and as administrator with neither having any effect.
