@kwohld I take it you don't want to delete the coffee maker? You could of course also direct your sims to make only the one cup. If you're letting them do what they want though, then the only other option is to use a mod. Specifically, NRaas Retuner would allow you to set the interaction (and any interactions you want) to be non-autonomous, that is, sims would only make coffee when you tell them to do so. You could still have one make a tray of coffee and let others drink it until it runs out, so there would be a self-limiting factor there.
Another thing that might work is using Retuner to lower the attractiveness of drinking coffee, but I'm not sure how much success you'd have there. Each item sims can interact with has an advertised output that tells sims they can increase a motive by using it, so Energy in the case of the coffee maker. Lower that value enough, and sims may not see drinking coffee, or making it, as a viable way to deal with a low energy bar.
@puzzlezaddict I have the same glitch. The sims are not constantly making coffee - they literally make one cup, have a seat, and then spend 12 hours drinking the same cup of coffee without moving from their seat.
They also collect all the bad moodlets while stuck: grungy, smelly, tired, sleepy, etc.

@Cuirithir I hadn't heard of that, but then I don't usually have my sims drink coffee. My first thought is a mod, maybe a script mod but also perhaps a tuning mod that affects something about drinking coffee. If you do use mods, it would be helpful to know whether this happens without them.
