Hi. Well I keep pounding my drum on disabling the user data folder before patching. How I wish the game did this automatically.I almost want to cry as I read about people uninstalling and reinstalling when they don't need to.

And reading his problem, I knew it wasn't going to help him.Question about running dxdiag. The EA link says to press the "Run 64-bit DxDiag button" if you have 64-bit. Does this really make a big difference in the report?

@ceejay402: Are you talking about the AnswerHQ ? Well, I can exactly tell you who's posting there: rumbutter, elanorbreton two other members I haven't seen on here and myself (going close to 8500 posts now).The community managers pop in from time to time but mostly they just link to the FAQs I did over there and answering old threads that haven't been answered by one of us.The problems over there seem to be more basic then here (aka how do I install the game and why does my serial number not work) but for me, it's a good place to see what basic issues there are so I can address them in my blog too (the pile is getting bigger and bigger but atm my laptop is broken and I don't feel like blogging on my desktop)Interesting thread by the way. I added it to the sticky :)

I took a look but couldn't find anything that would point to causing application problems. Haven't had a lot of time though as I don't use Win 8 much and I have a class I'm going to (homework, yuk).

no my guy was more overt ...he wrote with actual quotes :-o " I bought it on eBay".. but yours could also be ..or similar..re somehow got my game to work without launcher..

wondering also if some folks are suffering from the norton issues or anti virus quarantining the game

did some googling this is the only other thing i found beside cracking explaining why folks can't access buy/ build mode and seems like a good reason why they can't load launcher or game if they could before and move sims 3 doc doesn't help...anyone else?

So sounds like good news re the patch issue with buy/build mode - for legit folks customer service is reporting that base game got corrupted with the new patch ...

so the advice is to un/reinstall base

my question could factory resetting also be a good alternative

also it does make sense that if u have an un-fixable problem following a patch that replacing base could help.

also wondering what y'all think could this corruption be expressed other ways?
