i can't launch the sims 3

A few months ago, I purchased The Sims 3 through the Steam platform. After downloading the game, I couldn’t launch it at all. It froze; the application screen didn’t even open. I had to return it. I think it wouldn’t open because of a graphics card incompatibility, but I don’t know how to fix it. My computer is an HP Victus with an i7 processor. Is there a solution to this? Because from what I’ve seen on social media, people are still able to play The Sims 3, but I’ve tried countless times and couldn’t even get it to open, so I’ve had to keep returning it.
