The Sims 3 on PC Windows 7 Download from Origin

My Sims 3 game is not updating to version 1.50. My computer states that the update cannot continue because programs associated with the game are still running. However I do not have any other games installed. This is probably the 10th time I have tried to install-update-no luck-uninstall and yet I get the same out come. What are my options?

P.S. I called customer service and was on hold for an hour and a half. My phone eventually died. Does E.A. really not have that many people on staff?
