This may not be the place for this, but I would like to add a potential work around I've noticed in my own game regarding one of the glitches some people are having: "- Moving doesn't work. Town is loading but Sim is not there. Only option to make a new family."
I had this problem as well, I reloaded an old save multiple times and tested several different variables when it became graduation time. I played through approximately 15 different senarios and what I found was that 100% of the time if I invited anyone from my sim's home-world to come see her graduation ceremony, I would experience the above mentioned glitch when I tried to take my sim back for another term. Of course this may not be true for everyone, but simply not inviting anyone, ever, to graduation is working for me right now. Good luck!
