[XB] Items being deselected in build/buy mode

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In my experience it takes a while of using build mode so if you build for a few hours you might find that it starts to happen occasionally, it's more likely the longer you build. Once it starts to happen it increases as I go on. I often build in a 4 hour session and I find that after about 2 hours lately it starts to glitch.
What happens when the bug occurs? You select an item, wall covering or flooring for example it can be anything at all that you need to pick up and place. I get the sound effect as if I've pressed Back and I'm no longer holding the item, it's no longer highlighted in the menu and I have to choose it again. Occasionally I may get a green or red outline (image attached) which I get more if I'm placing a few of the same item.
What do you expect to see? I expect the item to be placed instead of having to select it again from the menu.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. It started with patch 1.69 and the introduction of the colour bar, which has now reverted back to it's original format. It was particularly bad until the latest patch 1.76 removed the need to click the colour bar and it's not as frequent now but it is still happening.
I've tagged this as XB but I was unsure if that was the right thing to do because I am aware it's also happening on other consoles and on PC as well.
I can't get a video of it but I do have an image attached of the outline I get occasionally. Usually though it's just a case of the item being highlighted and then the sound effect of pressing Back and it's gone and no longer highlighted for me. It was happening on my Xbox Series S as well, which I replaced in May with Series X.
