[ARCHIVED] [CoL] Chickens not laying eggs

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cottage living, Island Living, Seasons, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Dream Home Decorator, Realm of Magic, Jungle Adventure, Spa Day, Movie Hangout, Perfect Patio
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? A few weeks ago the chicken coop from Cottage Living stopped getting dirty (never needed to be cleaned), and no more eggs (regular or hatchable) were being laid. Nothing I tried fixed this.
What happens when the bug occurs? A few weeks ago the chicken coop from Cottage Living stopped getting dirty (never needed to be cleaned), and no more eggs (regular or hatchable) were being laid. Even giving my 3 rosters and 3 hens treats while happy, they do not lay eggs. Nothing I tried fixed this.
What do you expect to see? Chickens should be laying all types of eggs and the coop should get dirty and need to be cleaned. Roosters and Hens should lay eggs together with more treats also.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

A few weeks ago the chicken coop from Cottage Living stopped getting dirty (never needed to be cleaned), and no more eggs (regular or hatchable) were being laid. Nothing I tried fixed this. Also, it seemed like this all occurred after an obsidian egg was laid and hatched. The chickens do not lay eggs no matter how many treats are given or how happy they are. I have 3 roosters and 3 hens also. Please help me fix ASAP.

  • Thank you, I have tried to delete the old coop, moved it, and bought multiple new ones, but nothing has worked. This also seemed to happen after an obsidian egg hatched.

  • I am having the same issue. I have removed the chicken coop and replaced it with all new hens and roosters. Still no eggs, and the chicken coop is never dirty ( I don't mind this part ). I have removed all mods and started fresh still not working.

  • POSSIBLE FIX -

I had this issue the first game I played with cottage living - then suddenly it just went away and things acted as they should. I always wrote this off as a fixed bug because it never happened again.... until today. So I came across this post while looking to see if a work around had ever been found and I figured I'd reply since no one else had found anything that worked.

I tried to remember that first game, what I might have done RIGHT before the problem resolved- and I think I figured it out!

I tried all the usual - restart game, buy a new coop etc. and then I realized that BOTH games had one thing in common - the chicken coop was placed on the lot BEFORE any sims moved in. So I thought that maybe, if I restarted the game with NO coup on the lot, it might function. I removed all chickens from the coop, sold the coop, saved and exited the game to desktop. Then I restarted the game, entered the lot, and bought a new coop, and IT WORKED. within minutes my coop had 2 eggs available to collect, and coop became 'slightly dirty' within a few in game hours.

I don't know if this will work for every game, but it did fix this one coop for me so it might be worth a shot.

Good luck to anyone still trying to fix this issue.

    Hey all,

Just checking in to see if anyone is still seeing this on a modless game as we've been unable to reproduce it on our end.

If so please share your save file with us (instructions: http://x.ea.com/74420) so we can take a look.

    Thanks!
