Thanks @crinrict I appreciate your feedback and you taking the time to look for those threads.
I consider myself lucky that this is the first time I’ve experienced save corruption. A couple questions as I’ve never dealt with this before…
a) If I put a backup version of the save from before the last update into my game, is it likely that that version is also corrupted or is there a chance it will run properly?
b) If I save households or lots from the corrupt save to my tray and insert them into a new save file, is that safe to do?
My save file does not have a single one of the symptoms described in any of those links. Everything is totally normal from map view, I can enter all lots and neighborhood maps without any loading issues, and I do not see any exclamation marks of any color. No houses, Sims, or pets disappear when loading into a lot or household from either live or build mode, and my rental lots do not appear to have any trouble loading. The only symptom is that EA defaults appear on the unloaded lots in the surrounding world.
Is there any way I can test to be sure this one symptom is truly save corruption, and how should I address this? I would like to repeat BK747's previous question of whether it is safe to transfer the families and lots to a new save?
I also have spent years building the save file that is having this issue, and it would likely take me weeks or more to transfer everything to a new world. If I put in all that work only to find out the new save also has the issue, I would be totally devastated. This is a serious bug obviously caused by the latest game update and not anything I did myself, so I hope this problem can be presented to EA officially.

I had the same problem. Deleted all my mods, repaired the game, reinstalled mods one by one, repaired the game again. It than showed the neighbouring lots again as how I build them but still my live mode is a mess with endless loading screens. Also most of the lots in the new world won't load for me, not in live mode and not in build/buy mode.... I think it has to do with the loading error lots of players are having atm
Since the latest lovestruck pack EA removed the exclamation marks but didnt fix the issue. Most of you are probably legacy players and most likely have the same issue as i described in my post here...

I have this same problem in new Lovestruck map
I travel from restaurant to club and i see this (left photo) - old apartments and stange white block into apartament shell (WTF?!)

I have prepared save for this. I know exactly what to do to cause a problem.
Go to restaurant (from another neighborhood same world), order food and 18:12 go to the club
With mod and without mod (only MCC)
I wonder if it's not a problem with loading time in the game. Because I don't like the change of time of day in the pictures - I noticed it now. And I turned the game off and I don't intend to start it again as long as things like this happen
