I think this is a long lasting bug that was introduced with the For Rent expansion pack. My save game that I played for many years is now unplayable due to this bug and this is really bad.
For other bugs I always found workarounds but for this one not. So I'm giving up at this point and won't touch this game anymore. There have been too many bugs and I have put a lot of effort into finding solutions. But a save game being corrupted is the last issue I can handle. If this game is broken so much that even save games get corrupted how can we have the courage to start a new one?
I will watch this thread maybe there is a solution in the future but for now it's better to move on and forget this game.
Hello,
I also have this problem which happened some time ago (on a savegame that I had restarted from scratch because of another problem!), I have almost redone 2/3 of the worlds and one day I saw that the terrains were no longer displayed correctly!
Like you, I tried a lot of things, with or without CC, with few families, etc. I hadn't touched the game since. I hadn't touched the game since, and when I played yesterday, the problem had disappeared! Then it came back shortly afterwards, and I get the same impression every time I change home or move around the world... which isn't very practical. In short, if the problem appears randomly, I'm not going to start my save again... let's hope for a corrective patch…

I had this issue happening with my main save, where I filled 70% of the lots I made, and had approximatly 200 Sims played. I started from scratch as I tought it might have been linked to how long I played the save (even in this case, thise issue is not aceptable, as the goal of the game is to play with your families and see your Sims grow 😅) but if thzt's connected to a limitation, I'm king of concerned about my new save...
If this issue happens because of some limitations of the game engine, that's worrying. Currently, starting a new save file with all the packs installed, the game has 277 Sims created (in unplayed households, and not counting the hidden households) and around 250 lots built (without counting apartments). That's close to what I had in my save, except most of the Sims where set as played.

I had this problem on a save just before or after lovestruck, the houses all defaulted to ea versions in the street view, each lot was fine when playing and from map view. Then I stopped being able to save. I also kept getting multiple deaths spawning but never reaping and sims just weren’t dying but instead staying alive then being culled. I ended up deleting the save as I hadn’t been playing it that long. Didn’t get any exclamation marks anywhere though.
i play on Xbox so no mods or anything
