A while ago I had the same issue with the wall furniture from DreamHomeD and this was the simple solution: After I build the room with the problematic objects, I save it to my gallery. Then I delete the existing room and place the copy from the gallery. After I've done that nothing goes into the inventory anymore, no matter how often I travel or load my lot. 🙂
Maybe this solution helps some of you too.

@MissLjupka Thank you!!! I'm building a museum and put hours into it yesterday, only to find today that a random assortment of furniture/items have dissappeared. Because It's a public lot, it has no household inventory, which is a pain.
I am very excited to try this method you have mentioned. Hopefully it will allow me to use the modular display boxes and lightsaber cases instead of having to redo my entire museum. Thank you!
