I only noticed that particular change after skintones were added. Since the new skins update, the acting career in Get Famous has issues when trying to get into hair and makeup. My sim will arrive on set and go to the makeup chair. Everything will proceed as normal; makeup brushing, cloud to obscure the face and, then... nothing. Same makeup they came in with. Then, the hair. I decided to make a chart to see which skin colors work or not. Can't guarantee a 100% because I didn't recheck every skin color, so if something in the chart is wrong, please tell me.
Anyway, here's the chart, I used a female spellcaster to do this (green is "works", red is "doesn't work"):

@ariannaneal I can confirm that once I changed my Sim’s skin tone the issue did not occur! Took me a couple of tries going back and forth between the warm and neutral palettes.

@ariannaneal I just tested my save with the issue, and while one actor doesn’t change his hair and make up for gigs, Vanessa Jong (the Get Famous poster girl) changes normally.
The affected Sim was a random NPC added to the household by marriage, so his skin tone is randomized by the game. Vanessa was premade before the base game skin tone palette expansion.

@phyllisp160 Here I am, on October 2024, having this issue — and to make matters worse, the affected Sim has a dyed Mohawk and sideburns, so it is borderline comedic that he doesn’t change when doing period pieces. 😆

I recently discovered this too.
I tested it with a couple of Sims, and I've included a picture of one of the test results.

It worked fine for one skin tone, but not at all for my Sim's actual skin tone.

I'm also having this issue with the majority of skin tones. I had to completely change my sim's ethnicity just to get it to work. Please fix this!
Also, just FYI this also applies to manicures and pedicures.

This is happening to me. It only happens with particular skin tones.

I tested 17 skin tones: 5 on each palette (warm, neutral, cool), and blue and green. The hair and makeup changed for 2 of the 5 on the warm palette, and for blue and green. It did not change for the other 13.

I tested it with Mods folder in and Mods folder out. Same result.

I have all EPS, GPs, SPs, and kits.

I took pictures, but of course I cannot attach 34 pictures.

I am also having this issue. I noticed a little while back that one of my actress Sim was no longer changing into hair and makeup but she would change into her costume just fine. So I didn't dwell too much on that, and it didn't bother me much. But now it's bothering me because I have another Sim who is also in the acting career and for her second gig, she didn't change out of her costume when it was time to go home (neither is her hair and makeup being changed) so she went home in full costume and carried on with her day as if that costume was her normal wear. I would have to manually change her clothes for everything. Ever since leaving the job with her costume, she no longer changes her clothes to shower, work out, go outside nor when she goes to bed. Whatever she is wearing, she will continue to wear while doing everything! This was not happening to her before I sent her off to work (and I joined her). So far, she is the only Sim this is happening to as her bf is changing his clothes just fine and he does not work in the acting career. I have yet to check my other Sim that is also an actress to see if it is happening with her. When I last played the other Sim, everything was going fine. So far as I know Sim #1 was fine but Sim #2 is stuck in her clothing. Also, Sim #2 was an NPC that met my original Sim and they became lovers and she moved in with him. She had no problem changing her clothes etc. It started to happen after her second gig as an actress.
