Hello Simmers,
Ive just had this seriously annoying problem too!
I was super bummed because it was all my lots that had gone although you could see them in their original form from the map ( before I've edited them )(how the map looks when you first start)
I read this thread and multiple threads and nothing worked for me. This was so upsetting as it had my family photos inside which can't be replaced.
My partner who is very into technology and a laptop guru of sorts suggested some ideas which worked !!! yipeeeee 🙌
So i just want to share them with you all and hopefully it works.
- He told me to remove from my save file the last save ( because i saved my game in that horrible state )
- Then to go into sims 4 and click load game.
- Then press my original game file and click on the recover button at the bottom.
- Go back by a few dates ( two or three from your last save )
- Press Play.
Once i did this all my lots reappeared !!
- I then went back to my last save ( which was the night before ) and everything was back. Its not exactly where i left off but it was a good as, and i didn't mind having to replay a few days in order to get my lots back.
I hope this helps guys,
Please let me know if it does ❤️
Yeah I did that before. The issue is still there. And this time no matter how much I roll back it never gets fixed.
I haven't played the game in 3 months because I don't want to make another save AGAIN and it to break a month later again for the 100th time.
I've even talked to ea and they have no clue.

Ever since this started to become a real big problem for me (i.e playing on one family for ages then discovering all my other families houses are gone and i can't go back far enough to recover them) I begun making constant back ups for the saves that I play.
I'd advise doing that so that you can continue playing and so that you can keep every version of your saves somewhere safe.
Doing this I was able to back track a save through about... 10 versions (so many purely because I just didn't notice the issue). And if a lot of progress is lost, there are script mods out there which allow you to cheat progress to bring it back to its latest state (or as near as).

yeah i might do that, but it will take me like a week to get my save back by uploading everything to the gallery.
BUT
I did some thinking. And everyone in this thread should let me know if that was the case too, or it's just a coincidence, every time there was an update, my current save, aka the most played, broke. EVERY. UPDATE.
So, what if, we just take our saves out of the game like we would do mods when we update the game, would that work?

To be honest I haven't paid attention to whether or not it happens due to updates but it's a good suggestion.
I had a theory that it may happen on saves where you've used testingcheats but tbh I don't think it's related.
