I also had this problem as well and my game is modded but I also noticed that even if there's more then enough space it seems like some of the colors the ball comes in also cause them to not play with it, I had a newborn foal that received the playfull trait which meant she wanted to play more then other horses and since I couldnt get her to play with the ball she was tense all the time and I found that the red and blue color and the soccer ball color worked for me when replacing the ball in case anyone else is having this problem as well

I'm having this issue too, but when I replaced the balls they went to them again. That seems odd to me.
Fun is decaying super fast on horses when everything else decays at a normal rate. There's some issues I think. - JuniperWhimsy2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@RozaMain831 now that's interesting. I've been using random coloured balls through my gameplay so far but found I've had to delete them all (including the red and blue one) after a while to get the horses to play again. However, I've just started using the all-white soccer ball (football for UK folks like me!) and so far there has been no need to replace it. You might be on to something here!

I've tested the new ball theory in my game today after seeing it on this discussion thread.
I saw the tip on there from @twistedstitch and my horse is happily playing with the new ball whether she's directed to or not. Before I replaced it she stopped playing with it and refused all instructions.
