[HR] Horse/Foals refuse to play with Ball

I also frequently experience this issue. In order to get them to play with the ball I've taken to putting it inside my inventory and them pulling it back out to avoid having to constantly repurchase it. It becomes a pain when trying to fix a horse's fun need before a competition as going for a ride will tire them out.

I have that also happening quite often! It seems to me that the ball bugs out and is not usable by the horses anymore, which makes them all lose fun very quickly. I do the same workaround as mourningdove -> pull the ball into the Sim's inventory and then place it back. After that the horses can access it again

I sold both of my horses because they were too difficult to keep happy and the ball wasn't working for them.  Thank you for the work around!   This needs to be fixed, as horses are not fun when they can not fill their fun need bar.

I've had this problem forever, I found changing the design resets it as well.

If you are having problems with this in your game and if you are on pc and play with mods there is a modder that has a work around for this bug.  Its the Chase tail and frolic for max fun by Amethyst Amanda.

Fix this crap already its getting embarrassing Sims Team. 

I have to cheat my horse's fun so often because they just won't play with the ball even if directed by me or my sim. 

I have this problem as well unfortunately, my horses are always upset, so I tried to go almost everyday on a horse ride which pump their fun need, although it does not last at all and they refuse to play with the ball. The ball reminds me of the same issue outdoor garbage cans have. Once the horse played with the ball, it wont be available for another use it seems...

Same could be said with the garbage cans, when an angry sim kick it, sometimes, especially if you forget it there, it wont be available to put it back on... you got to buy a new one or send it to your household inventory to reset the can and then place it outdoor again.

The reason I talk about the can is because I had recently though that my sims somehow kicked it while being angry, and it happened multiple times, in short timeframe... then I saw my upset horse going near the can and the can fell... so there seams to be no animation, but horse seams to destroy some objects out of frustration, and I believe the ball is also a victim. lol 

My horses never play with the horseball. Not autonomously, and not when my sim asks them to.

When my sim asks them, a thought bubble with the ball appears above the horses head. Then they will walk to the ball and have the same thought bubble again. But then they just walk away.
