I keep making cakes but my sims eat one serving so I click on it and cancel it right before they take it but they still take it and eat it so then I can't place candles on it

i'm having the same problem.

when baking a cake/pie and certain other items (bread, etc), my sim grabs a slice before putting the cake/pie down.

i don't have this problem when cooking, just happens when baking.

This taking a serving from prepared/cooked/baked items is really making it impossible to play with my bakery. I can just keep restocking, but that sort of kills the fun of it all. I tried selling the single serving and the remaining 7 servings, but as yet they haven't sold. 😢 The cupcake maker does not seem to be effected.

So I'm having two issues, one of which seems to be listed here and one of which appears to be an old bug that lucky me has gotten again.

first, I too have a completely full Sim who bakes any pie or cake immediately takes a serving out of it, whether or not they're hungry. If they're hungry, they eat it. If they're not hungry, it gets stuffed in their inventory and I have to manually drag the single serving and the rest of it into the fridge.  This is becoming an issue as I had turned aging off and was intending to use the birthday parties to age up but you can't put candles on a partially eaten cake. Unless they've changed that.

My second issue is a much bigger problem. The cake issue no longer happens because I can no longer cook. My master chef pulls ingredients from the fridge and starts to cook, then gives us the pathing failed thought bubble and then refuses to continue it. For whatever reason, my sim is able to make autumn salad still and cook on the bbq outside, but i've tried 3 or 4 other recipes on the stove/fridge and it just fails.

I've already tried deleting and replacing the stove and fridge, adding extra counters, moving the applicances on the counters around, moving the dishwasher around, (which half the time the sims seem to forget exists bc they wash their dishes in the sink instead) I've tried restarting the game, repairing Origin, doing save as to a new save file, clearing my cache files.

I have no mods. The only CC i have is some hairstyles, clothing, walls, and floors. And in the kitchen, the floors and walls are from the base game. Nothing of my CC could in any way cause an issue with cooking food.

I have Limited Edition Sims 4 with Get To Work.

Does that also happen in a new save of only on that existing one ?

I'm having the same issue.  It's also a big problem if you have a bakery or are trying to sell baked goods at the festivals.  Can't sell a partially eaten \pie. (Well, you can, but it's at about 1/4 of the price you'd normally get - and you can't decorate it to make it a higher value.)

No mods, and I don't know if this is new with toddler patch or not, because I've never tried advancing a Sim in baking.

When my Sim bakes cookies, no problem. If he bakes breads or pies, he takes it out of the oven, holds the completed object in one hand and takes a serving with the other. Sometimes he drops the serving to the floor, sometimes not. There are options on the completed object, but I either have to "take serving" until he has taken them all and dropped them/put them on the table, or just clean up the completed object. There is no way to get him to set the completed object down.

Are you still having this issue? Can you upload your Save game ?

If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves and drop the file to this Mediafire-Link to upload.

Please make sure to name the zip file with your user name.

I uploaded two game save files I had the issue with (though you will have gotten one twice, since I couldn't remember which one I chose to upload first).  

One starts the morning before the wedding took place and the other is a save while the wedding is going on and you can see that the 'take the first piece' task for the wedding is still outstanding.

I have not tried to have another wedding in any other save file; I don't usually have wedding events, I tend to have them elope.  

I did attempt this wedding twice in two different locations; the first time I exited without saving (I had this wedding event at the park in San Myshuno, I made the cake and brought it and when that didn't work, I had a Sim make another cake at the venue and that didn't work either).  

My second attempt at a wedding was held at their penthouse (in the same save file) is what is here.  FYI, the cake was not made by either of the newlyweds but I did attempt to make another cake with one of the newlyweds and that didn't help. I did not save that, I just tried it and quit without saving.

I will try to see if I can replicate this in any other save files, but I only have one file where the couple is in a position to hold a wedding.  They are also located in San Myshuno. I will let you know whether or not they have the same problem.
