It's not exactly household inventory disappearing, it's being left at the old lot despite "Keep Furniture" being selected while moving. I'm dealing with this on Xbox too so it's not any mods (can't use mods at all so I can't have mod based problems) that are causing an issue. I'm not gonna play in Live mode till it's fixed because that's a special level of frustrating.
Also switching between sell and keep Furniture a few times does help but still annoying because the "Keep Furniture" option doesn't work like it used to. I wanna keep my Tibert Plush and Marble Collection, not leave it at my old house.
WORKAROUND: The simplest solution is to open Buy mode before you move, then put everything you want to keep in your household inventory. That way you can also sell the rest of the furniture as part of the move and leave a usable house behind. Keeping the furniture leaves the house unusable, because NPCs won't move into a house that has no beds.
That's a good point actually. It's not that the household inventory is empty, it's that "keep furniture" isn't keeping them (in addition to the household funds being messed up). I can move things manually into my household inventory and they stay there at least.
