I'm having a similar issue, the only difference being that I'm selling my furnishings with the house.
(I want their value, so I can splurge on a nicer, newer gallery-downloaded house!)
But yeah, my family keeps getting robbed while LITERALLY crossing the frickin' street.
They're in Willow Creek, moving from Cypress Hill to Oakenstead ... The only two lots in 'Sage Estates'.
(Ironically, it's described as high society - WC's most desirable area, but I can't go across the street without my purse being swiped.)
Also worth mentioning, is that it's not transferring the contents of my fridge over to the new place, either.
(I had a hefty collection of fresh fish and perfect produce for meal prep in my fridge storage that's gone.)
As well, I tried moving both via phone, and through Manage Worlds to no avail.
Then I tried running it without MCCC (the absolutely ONLY piece of CC I use) to the same effect.
Lucky though, I saved the game right before I moved, and I noticed the problem before I saved. If anyone wants a save file ...
Alright, so I tried a few more things to see if I could get the game to move my family properly, and none of them worked.
I tried moving to different lots, both in the same neighbourhood, and outside of WC. I still got robbed.
I moved them into their previous dwelling they lived in before Cypress Estates (an apartment). Robbed.
I tried selecting the option to keep the furniture, and like others have said: I was robbed, and no furniture migrated.
I made a $56k lot specifically to maximize their $60k budget, only to have negative funds when I arrived ...
(Or in other words, I was robbed so aggressively, that my future generations can consider themselves broke. Overkill, bro.)
Anyway, after putting it off for ten years (despite dealing with 100's of glitches), I finally read the thing about how to upload save files.
So I did. And hopefully I did it correctly. If not, I might try again, or wait another 10 years to attempt it again. But this is the link:
