Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.86.166.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When trying to get a sim to cook, specifically cooking using the refrigerator or the stove. This does not seem to happen when cooking using a camp fire, or grill.
What happens when the bug occurs? There is a delay between clicking on the stove/refrigerator and the menu popping up (can be as long as 20 seconds), and then a second delay after clicking on any of the menu options, to open the list of recipes. The second lag is often longer, sometimes 30 seconds. There is further lag between selecting what I want the sim to cook, and the game unclogging enough for the sim to go and actually follow the command.
What do you expect to see? The cooking menus working at the same speed as other menus in the game. For example, if I click on the yarn basket, or the woodworking table, everything works promptly throughout.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
The lag when trying to get my sim to cook is rendering the game difficult to play. I have tried removing all custom content, deleting the cache, starting a new save, deleting all my saves and starting fresh, etc, to no avail.
The lag is worse if I use the simple living challenge, and slightly worse if I use any CC that adds menu items (custom food interactions, etc), but even in a new, clean save with no CC at all installed I have significant lag when trying to get my sim to cook.
My computer runs the Sims 4 very well, and I am not having other issues with lag or performance, just the specific set of menus that are attached to the refrigerator and stove.
Hi,
I’m on PS4 and this lag issue is back with a vengeance!
It’s taken me about ten minutes real time to clean out a fridge… AND I couldn’t because of the lag.
the menu finally popped up but I was saving the game to exit out. Of course! 😅
I hope this gets fixed soon … as soon as I get a USB and access to a pc I’ll send my saves.
Not sure I want to post a video on the lag on Twitter though … I’d get frustrated just watching it and so will everyone else. 🤪

This actually pauses my game for about 15 seconds when canning by selecting the fridge or stove. I couldn't figure out when I'd pressed pause but it's doing it on it's own. Then it unpauses on it's own and carries on. I've had a few issues with canning already without this one.
I've got a vegetarian Sim alone on a small crop based farm with the Simple Living lot trait so his fridge has to have plenty of things in it. His personal inventory only has about 8 things in it as harvestables go straight to the fridge, nothing in build inventory or stored anywhere except the fridge. He has to make some products for ingredients because of the Simple Living trait so there's not really any way around it.

I am experiencing much of what is described in previous posts. Got a Delivery Express on June 6, 2022 that created so much lag the game is basically unplayable on my X-BOX.
- walking is no longer smooth - sims jump across the screen as they freeze then show up
- camera is jumpy and hard to move so see what you want to see
- difficult to select items since mouse is laggy and jumpy
- bringing up menu and saving doesn't fix lag like it used to before the delivery express
- maybe unrelated - but all my pictures went blank/black and I cannot have my sim take new pictures
- I tried deleting data and resyncing - which fixes a lot of things- but not this time.
So my game is basically unplayable until another fix is delivered.
