Lag for menu to show up when clicking on objects

On xbox and Mac there's a lag when you click on the fridge or computer, it's gotten better for a bit, then got back to being almost half a minute and I can't do anything while I wait for it to load the menu or it will cancel the action.

  • Also applies to PC. There is noticeable lag when opening any menu that has a large number of options.

Can confirm it also happens on PlayStation 5. The cook menu takes half a minute to open the first time in a game session; subsequent interactions take less long, but the game freeze is still noticeable.

Have the same problems with objects and their menus. Also, are your sims reacting slowly to given commands? Mine just stand there checking their phones or looking helpless while the command I give is there but not activated, so to speak. Every time I click "feed baby" it take my sim 30 sim minutes to move into action and I continuously get a warning about how I'm not taking good care of the baby/infant. Quite frustrating since it's the sim that simply refuses to start moving.😅😅

This slow reaction time is somewhat reduced when I run The Sims 4 from the NVMe on PlayStation 5. That is, some of the “lag” is probably due to loading/streaming animations from the HDD/SSD. If you notice your game lagging, freeze time in game (so your Sim don’t waste hours) and wait a bit for the loading to finish — that works for me sometimes, but it’s purely anecdotal. (Perhaps the Plumbob should have a throbber to indicate there’s loading/data streaming in progress, so we can do the freeze time and save some in game time by not waiting on the clock?)

About the incessant cellphone checking, some actions (I think?) are queued after idle animations determined by the environment and/or traits. For example, if you tell a Sim to feed the baby, first they will finish their idle animations (check phone, smell food, fan themselves if it’s hot) and only then they’ll perform the command you gave. If you’re lucky, the baby will still be there.

  • Most of my sims just stand there moving their arms back and forth ( I have to say I've noticed this kind of behaviour on kids with mental problems, so it makes me wonder about my sims now) and pretty much look left and right as if waiting to be told what to do, which ofc I've already done. I would laugh if not for all the time I waste IRL waiting on my slow sims to get to work. :)))))

  • When I cook on a stove or hover it takes about 5 to 10 seconds to open the menu where I can choose the food to cook. When I click on a fridge it takes about 3-5 seconds to open the pie menu as well. I play on a Mac with no CC and only 3mods. But this issue happens without any mod too. I’ve tried everything: repair the game, start a new Sims4 folder, start a new save file. And this lag is always there and is getting more time consuming as long as I play my save file.
