[ARCHIVED] [LD] Excessive autonomous 'Speak dead language'

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.110.294.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Eps, Gps, and Sps
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a maxed thanatology levelled Sim with another Sim who they have a strong friendship with.
What happens when the bug occurs? Despite being level 5 in thanatology, more often than not my Sim keeps failing the speak dead language and it tanks the friendship with the Sim they speak with.
What do you expect to see? Sims with level 5 thanatology not be able to fail speaking a dead language.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

So i have a household with two sims who are macabre and as per usual, macabre Sims keep leveling up their thanatology skill. Well, one of my Sims who has maxed out her thanatology skill, every so often she keeps doing the "Speak Dead Language" option, but a weird and extremely annoying thing is she keeps failing the interaction and gets embarrassed from it. And when my Sim does this interaction with another member of the household, it tanks their relationship.

I've attached an image to show the brokennes. I watched my Sim autonomously failing to speak a dead language to her lover, before i took the image, their friendship level was maxxed. And one interaction of her failing to speak dead language has taken a sizable hit to their friendship due to it being awkward. This is something the Sim doesn't do a lot but she does it every so often that every few days of ingame time i noticed my sims are getting the hurt sentiment from losing a friend, so it's enough to destroy their relationship overtime.

In the second image i attached, showcases the fact my Sim failed to speak a dead language, saying she needs more practice, and yet she's maxed out the thanatology skill.

I find it ridiculous that my sim who has maxed the thanatology skill is still failing the speak dead language interaction, and i hate that it has such as big hit on whoever they're talking to. It happens a bit too often for my liking and i hope it gets tuned to happen less often and level 5 thanatologty makes it so you no longer fail the speak dead language interaction.

  • YESS to everything everyone has said so far. Something else that bothers me so much is that when you hurt a sim by failing this action, there isn't even an option to apologize later.
Failing the action more with lower thanatology skill is fine, and I don't mind /too/ much that it's autonomous, but the frequency that my sims do it to each other (one is macabre and one is a reaper with "chased by death") is completely absurd and the fact that the other sim feels hurt EVERY TIME it fails is ridiculous.
If it were up to me, the action would happen WAY less frequently and only give a CHANCE of hurting the other sims feelings when it fails. (And when it does you can APOLOGIZE!!!)
This bug is giving me flashbacks to when sims would ruthlessly autonomously run mean interactions at each other regardless of relationship or personality. That bug made me so sad, I stopped playing the game for like two years until I heard it had been fixed. This one isn't as ruthless or game-breaking, but my patience for it isn't as high since I already had to deal with this before.
  • I have also noticed that the "speak dead language" interaction nearly always has a negative reaction and a relationship hit - I could maybe see it if the other sim was paranoid or squeamish or something? But mostly, it seems an odd interaction for them to be queuing autonomously, and an even odder reason for other sims to hate them. If it's just a hobby to speak in a different language sometimes, that's quirky, but surely not worse than the various mischief interactions that sound far crueler yet get positive reactions frequently? And if by "speak dead language" we mean something more supernatural or threatening, like casting curses or something (though I don't see why we would), why are they then doing it autonomously multiple times a day?

On console if you see it pop up in the sims que, you can't cancel it either. Better hit that pause button and reset that sim before his kids hate him. Come on EA.
