Having the same issue!

Left the lot after duplicating my sim and only realised said clone still existed when she popped up to visit my sim a few days later!

        The Ducplicato clones go into hidden households (same as JA skeletons households for example) and stay there forever. 
        I never noticed them walking around or displayed in relationship tabs, but they sure exist and I can see them when I export sims with SimRipper aplication for example.
