Yup. I have this issue too.

Very annoying. I decided to try to have my founder Sim for my new legacy family make money with knitting and Plopsy, but I had to give up on that idea. If anything kicks my Sim out of the interaction, I'm unable to resume the project. Lose money and time and stuck with a ton of unfinished projects.
