@PeachTeaPanda That's a cool idea. I've also seen projects that look like balls of yarn in the "give gift" list. I'll have to test that theory and gift NPCs I don't like with my unfinished business lol.

Now the sim that I gifted to (shown below) does not have the knitting skill, so it doesn't show up anywhere for him except within his gifting inventory. So I'm going to gift it back to his wife and have her try a townie next.
Obviously this isn't a permanent solution (PLEASE EA/MAXIS FIX THIS SOON), because your sims might still autonomously start a project and waste their money, but if your sim has plenty of cash then I guess it's worth doing if you need to.
