Let's try a factory reset

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Just put back your saved game and nothing else and test how it goes. If it now works, you can start putting stuff back

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Sorry it's been a few days because of some personal stuff. I've tried a factory reset as you described and it still didn't give me royalties. My save has a few different .ver I assume versions? I dragged them all over into my new folder. So I'm not sure if those are the issue or if those don't matter?

    @Rinnyper Those are backups. Earlier states of the save. Shouldn't matter if you put them in or not.

    I'm out of ideas then.

    Hi 

    I am having the same problem. I don't use mods. My Sim (not a mermaid etc) is publishing his books but not receiving any money for them!

    @minibus101 I tested your save and royalty messages came the very next day for both the teen and the nature documentary for the woman.

    I have the same issue. I did a reset object on the mailbox and it still doenst work. They are not living in sulani but in oasis springs.

    I dont have any mods. Only island living, parenthood and laundry day as an extra.

    Hi!

    Thank you for your quick reply! I followed all the steps and I have a link now. However, I'm new to this forum so can you please explain how I send a pm? Because if I click on your account and go to contact me I do not see anything to send you a pm. Hence, I'm asking you to guide me haha because maybe I am doing something wrong. 

    One last question the file path I compressed (zipped) had also more of them which ended with ver.2 and stuff. do you need that inside the zipped file also?

    HI @Bambyeyes 

    If you click on the envelope, you should be taken to the page to compose a PM. 

    the Ver files are automatic backups. Don't really need them for this issue but you can leave them in. Doesn't hurt.

    @Bambyeyes I think I finally found the reason why I wasn't able to duplicate this issues.

    Tried my game - worked fine
    Since you have only a few packs, I tried on your pack combination - no royalties.

    Need to do further testing but it looks like the missing Get Famous pack is causing this. (not saying you need to buy that, it should work without). So that's potentially the problem but I need to check on some other saves I have.

    @Bambyeyes I've tested all the three saves folks from this save have sent me and I'm finally able to duplicate if I don't have the pack active.

    Unfortunately I have no solution on how to solve it but duplicating is the first step. Hopefully it can be fixed soon

    @crinrict It's been a while since I've started this thread, but I finally purchased the Get Famous pack and it fixed my issue of not receiving royalties. I now receive royalties like normal.

    @crinrictI can confirm this issue still exists, playing two mermaids which are receiving no royalties for books and songs. Previously one of them (not a mermaid at that time) was receiving money for documentaries. I don't have Get Famous. The expansion it provides nothing for humble island writers/musicians. I am quite annoyed that there is no fix for this after such a long time, apart from purchasing a 40e expansion just for the fix.
