Your right mate, its only a matter of time before this issue makes the game unplayable for everyone not just us on this thread.
I actually think the issue is with the lots because i just tested it again and the recent error i reported was not as a result of the household but as a result of the lot (even though the lot is not a residential rental #sigh)
I'm still testing...
Noticed that the issue can be slightly reduced (i.e hit and miss) if you place a lot from the library when in live mode. E.g you play household that lives on an empty lot (i.e there is nothing built on the lot), then you load the lot you want from the library and place it whilst in game. Exit back to world map view and see if you get errors.

The bad thing is that in the end you end up with the error over time, whether you want to or not. It makes you take a risk to play that way, not only do you have to have a backup copy at all times, but you are depending on the game to become more corrupted at any moment and not let you access the buildings with the warning sign.

So, i also did more Testing and the interesting Part is, while in my testsave without any mods the Problem only recreates when i am building Residental rentals. Doesnt Matter If i place new ones from the gallery or changing residentals into residental rentals. In the one i Test with Mcc it also can Happen when i place a residental. But in both ways it will absolutely sure Happen when i am around 70 residental Rental Units in the Game. I tried it several Times now and in my games its every time around 70-75 of them. This maybe Sounds like a lot or enough for people but since i have all Packs and had planed my entire world For my legacy Game, (yeah maybe i am crazy) it actually makes me really sad that i cant have the 100 even If i do without mods and Cheats. And i am very afraid that even If i know this now and will Not cross the 70 line, it is possible, that Something different will Trigger my beloved legacy save to break.
Anyway, since my husband is a programmer, i know that this is not Something easy to repair or to even find out how to. And since its near Christmas and new year and the wonderful helper here and the people working at EA are people with lifes and Family (i Hope) i will try some different Things with my Favorite Game without the fear of destroying my Game For the Rest of this year and be patient.
I Hope we will find a solution next year as soon as possible and that we all, Sharing this Problem now, will be able to Play then again without this Problem.
Also i Hope our Tests and discoveries will Help!
Now I wish everyone who reads this a loving rest of the year and a good start into the new year. Also, Thank you so much to everyone who is trying to solve the problems for their effort and work!

Have a great xmas and keep testing š

Thats the same with me the 2nd lot in Willow Creek breaks first

In my case, first it is the shops in Magnolia and then certain lots in Oasis Springs.

Any tricks to make the affected lots playable again? I managed with one of them (it no longer has the explanation mark, and correctly displays the lot type) but Iām not entirely sure how.
Also, some of the ones with exclamation marks load and are empty, but others donāt load at all (801 or 802 error displays, or stuck on loading screen)
I donāt care about having residential rentals, Iām fine with removing them all, but I just really donāt want to lose my progress; the only backup save I have that doesnāt have the issue is from before For Rent. I played many hours since For rent ā¹ļø
I cannot express how much I regret buying this expansion. There is no sims issue that I could hate more than saves corruption.

Once the game is corrupted, until now I have not found a way to recover it, unless it is to replace it with the previous backup copy.
I don't know how many more people are going to be at the risk of their games dying because of this error, I really hope that EA takes action on the matter because this has been getting out of control since the release of the expansion, not only is it broken in every sense but which also corrupts the games completely.
Another suggestion I give is that those who have this error, play without the new expansion installed, or at least have a backup.

I also think the issue is related to the library and also lots from the library. For example i've had some luck with preventing a random error from showing up in Willow Creek by building on a empty lot as opposed to placing a pre-made lot from library.
Example Issue
Everytime i placed a pre-made residential lot from the library in an empty lot in strangerville it created a random error in the 2nd lot in Willow Creek. So instead of placing a pre-made lot from the library i went into that household in strangerville (in live mode) and started building on that empty lot and then exited to world map. I then checked Willow Creek and there was no error on the 2nd lot.

Thanks. Yeah, Iām going to see whether it works for me with just one residential rental or something. Given your testing I have high hopes (I also reached the limit of units per save so I think I ran into the exactly same issue). Because none of you had this error before hitting a high residential rental units number, right?
Iāve been reading a lot about it last night, and what kills me is that some people have had this problem since 2015. And they only had a few expansions. And EA still havenāt fixed it. I mean, if this error appears without even residential rentals etc, then the game is completely unplayable. Crazy.
- nathaneous12 years agoNew Hotshot@LauratkoK Yea i never had this issue before hitting a high residential rental units number.

Thatās interesting. Personally, Iāve always had a majority of buildings from the library and nothing ever happened until the new expansion. And it affected around 7 lots in my game, all when I was placing residential rentals. I canāt believe that I just decided to ignore the exclamation marks, and kept on playing lol. But whatās funny is that at first the lots still loaded, and were not empty or anything. Iām not sure when they started appearing empty.
But yeah, I played for lots of hours since then, and no other lots got affected as far as I can see, even though majority was from the gallery.
Iāve read another really long thread about this issue, and it seems very possible that there are several different roots of this problem though
- sabodreyar2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@nathaneous1 same my case

Also, I have a feeling that they knew that this issue could happen.
Everyone was surprised that the number of residential rental units is limited to 100, and why canāt it be changed even with cheats. It seemed rather peculiar that you can change the limit of 6 per lot, but cannot change the overall limit.
Perhaps they tested this with only base game + for rent, and the issues started appearing after hitting 100? (As oppose to 70).

And I don't want to be pessimistic, but if this error has been going on for years and EA has not yet provided a solution, and now with the new expansion this has taken on a greater importance, I would not like to think that all of us who have this error have to give up the game. finished at least with the content of the new expansion, unless some MOD creator or EA who knows finds a solution to this quickly, as long as it doesn't mean starting a new game and forgetting the current game.
- sabodreyar2 years agoSeasoned Veteran
In fact, EA always tests new content with the base game, but not with the rest of the content as is the case with players, at least that is what is seen in all their live broadcasts, only the base and the new content. The same thing happens with early access players, they only enable the new content and the base.
And then when the official content hits the stores, the bigger disasters begin.
I base it on what has been seen for years in all its broadcasts on YouTube and trailers.

Yeah, if I run into this error with just a few residential rentals, then I will try playing without the expansion installed. And if I run into the error even then, then well, Iāll stop playing because what else can I do. Iāve bought every DLC for this game. Itās their loss, really, because otherwise Iād probably continue lol
- 2 years ago
Yes, this kills me. I mean, I canāt imagine them not cross testing all the packs, but it certainly looks this way
- nathaneous12 years agoNew Hotshot
I can't believe no ea support or dev has offered any support on this thread since we've raised the issue? Its like EA are happy to take customers money and offer no support to fixing their broken game?
- sabodreyar2 years agoSeasoned Veteran
Honestly, it doesn't surprise me, there are years-old errors that still don't have a solution, however several MOD creators create solutions to many of them, and then EA moves on from them and releases other content to further break the one that's still there. It is incredible and even offensive in many cases.
