I did end up adding the 'Beloved'/Legendary trait to my Sim per my comment (and directions in the spoiler tag) as a workaround for now on my main long-time married couple (just added it to the hubby). It seems to be working quite well for them, if you want to give it a try. I was pretty sad and very frustrated playing them recently, before I did this, so I hope it helps someone here also (Comment #69): https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Romantic-Relationships-decay-become-negative-fast-with-no/m-p/14034119#M292636
@SheriGR - how to add Beloved Trait without completing the aspiration milestones?
It seems the cheat traits.equip_trait Beloved is not working for me..
Edit: Okay it works for me. The correct cheat is traits.equip_trait Legendary
Thanks!

@Hamsysincy Yes, that threw me off also. I actually liked the trait so much, and it's usefulness for relationship 'consistency' that I had the whole household complete the aspiration... that way the young adults would have some general relationship stability in their pocket as they set out. Actually, I thought having the household go through the steps of the aspiration, which involved a bunch of socializing and stranger meets, would make my Sulani madness worse (people just turning up and helping themselves to stuff and not leaving)... however, it seemed to stabilize more after they completed the aspiration! I'm actually pretty happy with it, as I never did it before. It wasn't a difficult aspiration to complete, either. ('Friend of the World' is the aspiration, and 'Beloved' is the trait you get when you complete the aspiration, if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about.)
