I don't have High School Years.
If a teenager isn't on the home lot when school starts they're going home, and when the home lot has loaded there's a notification saying that the sim is done with school for the day (at 8 in the morning), then the principal calls and tells the sim that they're late for school, but since they are done with school for the day they can't go to school at all. I tested with several teenagers, none of them have jobs or after school activities, they just can't go to school if they're not on their home lot when school starts. I haven't tested with children and I haven't tested with different careers or activities.
